Indian star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra won the first-ever Neeraj Chopra Classic at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday night, thrilling over 15,000 fans who came to watch him play.

Neeraj started with a foul on his first attempt but bounced back strongly, throwing 86.18 meters to secure the gold medal. Fans in the stadium cheered loudly, chanting “Neeraj, Neeraj” as he took his winning throw.


Kenya’s Julius Yego, a former world champion and a good friend of Neeraj, won the silver medal with his best throw of 84.51 meters, while Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Pathirage won the bronze with 84.34 meters.


India’s Sachin Yadav came close to the podium with a best throw of 82.33 meters, finishing fourth in the competition. Another Indian athlete, Yashvir Singh, finished in eighth place with 79.65 meters.


The event was filled with energy as top javelin throwers from around the world competed, despite challenging wind conditions. Fans left the stadium happy, celebrating Neeraj Chopra’s win while dancing to AR Rahman songs that played after the event.
