The big Apex Legends tournament at the Esports World Cup (EWC) in Saudi Arabia just ended, and it was absolutely crazy! VK Gaming ended up being the champions, and they really earned it. The whole final game was super exciting, keeping everyone glued to their screens until the very end.
What made it so exciting was something called the "Smash Rule" (or Match Point format). Instead of just playing a set number of games, teams had to reach a certain number of points first. Once they hit those points, they were on "match point." This meant that if they won just one more game after reaching match point, they'd win the whole championship!
This rule made the finale incredibly dramatic because at one point, a staggering 8 teams had reached match point! This meant that literally anyone of those 8 teams could have won the entire championship with just one more victory. Imagine the tension! Every single fight, every move on the map, and every special ability used was super important. The lead kept changing hands, and the crowd was cheering loudly with every good play and groaning when things went wrong. VK Gaming played really well under all that pressure, staying calm and smart to win the big trophy.
Our own team from India, S8UL, also did a great job just getting to the finals. They showed they could compete with the best teams in the world and even won a game earlier in the tournament! In the final matches, they battled hard but finished in 15th place. It's still a big achievement, and it shows that Indian esports teams are getting better and better on the world stage.
