Money Heist Season 1 introduces us to a mysterious man known as The Professor, who recruits eight people with unique skills and nothing to lose. Their goal: break into the Royal Mint of Spain, print €2.4 billion in 11 days, and escape without shedding a single drop of blood.
Each member adopts a city-based code name — Tokyo, Berlin, Nairobi, Rio, Denver, Helsinki, Moscow, and Oslo — and they follow a carefully laid-out plan that begins to unravel as emotions, egos, and the unexpected come into play.
Outside the Mint, The Professor manipulates the police, especially Inspector Raquel Murillo, who slowly develops a complicated relationship with him — unaware of his true identity.
Instead of a typical robbery, the crew isn’t stealing existing money — they’re printing new currency, making it a symbolic act against economic injustice. This gives the show a Robin Hood-like appeal.
The plot unfolds in real time and flashbacks, showing the preparation, personal backgrounds, and psychological stress. The narration by Tokyo gives a personal, emotional touch, though it’s sometimes overly dramatic.
Each character feels human — full of flaws, emotions, and personal baggage.
It’s not just a crime thriller. Money Heist Season 1 touches on:
