Activision Adds a New Barrier to Entry for Call of Duty Players

  • 🚨 Big change incoming: Activision now requires all players to add their birthdate to their account to continue playing Call of Duty - including titles like Warzone and Black Ops 6.
  • 🎮 If you're underage and don't verify your date of birth (or get parental consent), your account could be deleted within 4 months. Yep, wiped clean.
  • 📋 Activision claims this update aligns with its Code of Conduct and aims to "deliver a positive community experience." But for many, it's raising eyebrows.
  • 🛡️ The change dropped alongside the July 16 Warzone update, which also included: - Bug fixes - Balance tweaks to DM-10 & TR2 rifles - Improvements to Ranked Play & Plunder mode.
  • 🔍 While age gates aren't new (Steam asks for birthdates too), this move feels heavier. Some players are already concerned it'll eventually require ID verification.
  • 💬 The community is split: - Some appreciate efforts to protect younger players - Others fear privacy trade-offs or losing long-time accounts.
  • ⚠️ And let's not forget: This comes just before the Black Ops 7 gameplay reveal at Gamescom. Suspicious timing, or strategic push?
  • 🕵️‍♂️ Workarounds might surface, but Activision's stance looks firm. The question is - how far will age verification go?
