Publisher EA has finally confirmed that the next Battlefield game will be titled Battlefield 6, with an official reveal trailer set to premiere this Thursday, July 24. EA confirmed the existence of a new Battlefield game last year with its first piece of concept art, and while footage from numerous closed playtests has continued to leak online, fans now know that the shooter will officially be titled Battlefield 6.

Things are beginning to ramp up for fans who have been patiently waiting for the next Battlefield game. Not only has EA now confirmed the official title of the shooter and exactly when fans will be able to watch the first reveal trailer, but it was just yesterday that the studio announced an open beta for Battlefield 6.

There's no exact date for when the beta will kick off, but there have been rumors that claim it will kick off as early as next month. Should those rumors be true, there's a strong chance that further information may be shared with the game's official reveal trailer later this week.

Battlefield 6 Reveal Coming This Week

It's been nearly four years since the last Battlefield game, and fans are eager to see how EA and DICE intend to come back bigger and better after the disastrous launch of Battlefield 2042. While DICE has worked tirelessly to improve the state of the 2021 shooter with plenty of post-launch improvements and changes, Battlefield 2042 left an incredibly sour taste in players' mouths.

The game's new Specialist system, a limited number of weapons at release, no scoreboards, fewer game modes, bugs, glitches, and performance issues all contributed to one of the most controversial Battlefield launches ever.

Thankfully, DICE seems to have taken the feedback from fans on board, as the studio stated last year that Battlefield 6 will draw inspiration from the likes of Battlefield 3 and 4, two of the most beloved entries in the franchise's history. Not only will the next Battlefield game feature a modern setting, but it will also remove Battlefield 2042's controversial Specialist feature, according to publisher EA.

There's no release date for Battlefield 6 just yet, but if it intends to launch later this year, it will likely be going head-to-head with Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. Rumors suggest the next Call of Duty game will be launching in November, but fans will likely find out more at its worldwide reveal on August 19.

If both shooters are released this year, it will mark the first time since 2021 that new Battlefield and Call of Duty games have launched in the same year.
