The iQOO Z10R has just been announced, and it has a good camera setup for the price.

The iQOO Z10R has two useful cameras

- A 50 MP Sony IMX882 rear main sensor with OIS (1/1.95" sensor size), with a 26 mm focal length and f/1.79 lens.

- A 32 MP GalaxyCore selfie camera (1/3.1" sensor size), with a 28 mm focal length, and an f/2.45 lens.

But does this camera actually take great photos?

Here are some shots I have taken in the past one week with this phone's rear cameras.

The rear camera photography experience, as you can see, does seem good for the price.

However, there are a few inconsistencies which can be fixed with updates.

1️⃣ The White Balance tends towards cooler tones abnormally, especially at 1.5x (38 mm) and 2x (52 mm) shots. This also happens indoors when taking shots at 1x (26 mm).

In the example shown above, the Left image is taken with the default photo mode which went for a cooler tone, while the Right image is taken after tweaking White Balance, making the image warmer manually in Pro Mode: this fixes the issues & corrects the white balance.

2️⃣ The HDR consistency needs a bit of work. In 80% of situations, it is adequate, but when there is a lot of light, the phone can sometimes overexpose.

These samples below show this issue.

3️⃣ The color science can get extremely oversaturated when it comes to representing greens and reds in the images, especially in Vivid Profile. Switching to Natural or Textured Profile tones it down, but it is a quirk nonetheless.

I have already reported these issues to the brand, and I look forward to seeing them improve in an upcoming OTA update.

Overall, despite the few inconsistencies, the iQOO Z10R's camera performance seems quite good, especially for the ₹17,499 price that it commands.

I'll cover more stuff on this phone quite soon, in the meantime, let me know if you like the iQOO Z10R's cameras.

Stay tuned for more:)
