Tech enthusiasts, we now know the internal dessert codename for Android 17, and it’s as sweet as it sounds — Cinnamon Bun!

While dessert names aren’t part of Android’s public branding anymore, Google still uses them internally for development. This time, the naming follows a new Trunk Stable development model, where Android versions are aligned with build ID letters.

Quick History of Recent Names:

Android 14 – Upside Down Cake 🍰

Android 15 – Vanilla Ice Cream 🍦

Android 16 – Baklava 🥮

Android 17 – Cinnamon Bun 🌀

The switch from “B” (Baklava) to “C” (Cinnamon Bun) matches the build ID letter sequence rather than the old alphabetical version naming.

Expected Release: Around June 2026.

Even though Google keeps these names behind the scenes, it’s always fun to see what sweet treat represents the next Android!
