Most vendors are expected to complete their clearance plans by October, while inventory in distribution channels may take longer to sell through The B650 and B650E chipsets were introduced in October 2022 as affordable AM5 options, targeting the mid-range market with motherboards initially priced around 125 to 150 USD. Over time, prices dropped below 100 USD, making the B650 series one of the most accessible choices for Ryzen 7000 and Ryzen 8000 PC builders.

The replacement B850 chipset, along with the entry- level B840, began rolling out earlier in 2025. The main change between B650 and B850 lies in PCle 5.0 support. While B650 offered PCle 5.0 lanes only for storage and left GPU support optional, B850 now standardizes PCle 5.0 functionality across more configurations. With the discontinuation now confirmed, the B650 will gradually exit the market as B850 and B840 motherboards take over as AMD's mainstream solutions for Ryzen 9000 processors and beyond.
