World of Warcraft just revealed four new open world activities coming in Midnight, including Silvermoon Court, Abundance, Legends of the Haranir, and Stormarion Assault. Ranging from lore deep dives to combat-focused skirmishes, these activities should ensure that World of Warcraft fans of all types have something exciting to look forward to across the four zones of Midnight.

Since Dragonflight, World of Warcraft has been heavily experimenting with open-world activities. From the soup-making Community Feast event in the Azure Span and the Superblooms of the Emerald Dream to WoW: The War Within’s Theater Troupe and Shipping and Handling, Blizzard has spent the last several years iterating on this new type of content.

New Open World Activities in World of Warcraft: Midnight

1) Silvermoon Court/Saltheril’s Soiree

2) Abundance

3) Legends of the Haranir

4) Stormarion Assault

Now, World of Warcraft has pulled back the curtain on the major open-world activities coming in Midnight. Four of these activities are coming in the expansion: the Silvermoon Court, also known as Saltheril’s Soiree, in Eversong Woods, Legends of the Haranir in Harandar, Stormarion Assault in the Voidstorm, and Abundance located across every zone in WoW: Midnight, but centralized in Zul’Aman. Each of these activities caters to a drastically different style of play, meaning there should be something for all types of gamers.

Silvermoon Court will have players participate in public events to balance their reputation between four of Silvermoon’s major military factions – ostensibly the Blood Knights, Farstriders, Magisters, and Sunreavers. This activity is seemingly taking notes from both The Burning Crusade’s reputation grinds and Shadowlands’ Ember Court.

Abundance is a profession-focused gathering event that will take fans all over the new zones, while Legends of the Haranir lets players enter magical paintings to go on deep dives into the Haranir’s history.

Lastly, Stormarion Assault is a combat-focused series of battles that sounds like a combination of Researchers Under Fire, Siege on Dragonbane Keep, and Fyrakk Assaults from Dragonflight, and the Nightfall scenario from World of Warcraft: The War Within.

Interestingly enough, none of these activities were mentioned at all during Gamescom, where the expansion reveal took place. Rather, this information came from one of over a dozen Midnight reveal recap blogs World of Warcraft dropped all at once over a week after the convention concluded.

The public alpha and beta tests for World of Warcraft: Midnight have not yet begun, meaning few specifics are known about the achievements, rewards, or mechanics of these activities. The alpha is expected to begin in September, so hopefully, fans will soon have a better idea as to how these new events will work and what players can earn by participating in them
