Its consistent inclusion in the Esports World Cup since release reflects its continued relevance in the esports landscape.


CS2 confirmed for Esports World Cup 2027

Counter-Strike 2 has been confirmed as the first title for the Esports World Cup 2027, scheduled to take place in Riyadh from 16 July to 1 August. This marks the earliest official inclusion of any game for the event. The team roster and prize pool for CS2 at the Esports World Cup 2027 have not yet been announced. In 2025, the prize pool was $1.25 million. Teams from Europe, North America and Asia are expected to participate. Valve requires that major Counter-Strike tournaments be announced at least two years in advance. This policy helps to avoid scheduling issues and gives teams time to plan.

The MongolZ secured their first major CS2 title, while Team Falcons led the overall standings.

The Esports World Cup 2026 will follow the two-week format and run from 6 July to 23 August. It will precede the 2027 edition. With support from the International Olympic Committee, Riyadh will also host the Olympic Esports Games in 2027. Players will compete in competitive gaming while representing their countries.
