Hey IQOO Fam!👋 MediaTek has introduced the Dimensity 9500, a third-generation "All Big Core" mobile SoC for upcoming 5G smartphones. The chip pairs one ultra core at up to 4.21 GHz with three premium cores and four performance cores, and supports four-lane UFS 4.1 storage.
MediaTek claims up to 32% higher single-core and 17% higher multi-core performance versus the previous generation. Peak CPU power draw is reduced, and the company cites faster app-launch response with tight latency control. A new cache and memory design plus four-lane UFS 4.1 is said to double read/write throughput and speed up large model loading by around 40%.
Graphics move to an Arm Mali-G1 Ultra GPU with two ray-tracing units. MediaTek lists up to 33% higher peak GPU performance, 42% better power efficiency at peak, and up to 119% faster ray-tracing benchmarks. The platform targets 120 FPS ray-traced gameplay and supports Unreal Engine 5 features including Nanite (5.5) and MegaLights (5.6).
Al gets a larger upgrade. The ninth-gen NPU 990 with Generative Al Engine 2.0 doubles Al compute and adds low-bit (BitNet 1.58-bit) execution. MediaTek says 3B-parameter LLM output is up to 2x faster with support for 128K-token contexts and on-device 4K image generation. A new Super Efficient NPU with compute-in-memory aims to keep small models running continuously at low power. Token generation speed is listed at 2x, with lower peak power during Al bursts.
For imaging, the Imagiq 1190 ISP enables RAW-domain pre-processing, 30 fps continuous focus tracking, up to 200 MP capture, and cinematic 4K60 portrait video. The slide deck also calls out Android's first 4K120 Dolby Vision video capture with EIS. MiraVision Adaptive Display adjusts contrast and color based on ambient light and panel characteristics to improve outdoor readability and reduce eye strain in dark rooms.
Connectivity updates include 5CC carrier aggregation (sub-6 GHz) with speeds up to 7.4 Gbps, Al-assisted 5G power savings (about 10%) and Wi-Fi power savings (about 20%), faster large-file Wi-Fi transfers, and improved Bluetooth call quality and range. AI-GNSS claims 20% higher location accuracy and faster cold starts.
MediaTek says the first phones with Dimensity 9500 will ship in Q4 2025.
