The first Wild Area event for Pokemon GO took place in 2024, adding a bunch of new content to the hit mobile title. Mighty Pokemon, creatures with a chance to have higher Attack, Defense, and HP ratings, made their debut, along with Safari Balls to help capture them. However, the big draw for many fans was the arrival of Toxtricity and its Dynamax variant, the latter of which could be found when completing 6-star Max Raid battles. Nearly a year later, Pokemon GO is bringing back the Wild Area for 2025.

Announced back in August, Pokemon GO is kicking off a Wild Area event. Kicking off on November 7 in Nagasaki City, Japan, the event opens for everyone a week later on November 15 in a Global event. Alongside the return of Mighty Pokemon and Safari Balls, players will be able to take on Team GO Rocket for a chance to capture Shadow Darkrai. Special Event-themed Pokemon will also be appearing in the wild, and raids can also feature a wilderness cape wearing Bewear and Shadow Cresselia.

For the first time, Pokemon GO Wild Area: Global will also feature the debut of Impidimp, Morgrem, and Grimmsnarl, including the rare shiny varients. Impidimp was originally added to Pokemon Sword & Shield, which also introduced the Gigantamax ability to the franchise. As such, Grimmsnarl will also be getting a Gigantamax version during Wild Area: Global in special 6-Star Max Battles during November 15 and 16.

The debut of Grimmsnarl may not be the only exciting new development for Pokemon GO. A recent leak seemed to confirm that Poke Coins will be in the Pokemon GO October 2025 Pass. If confirmed, it would be the first time that the premium currency would be included in a season pass, giving players another way to earn it outside of either paying real money or holding a gym for their team. Granted, the latter only earns 50 coins per day, so while it is free, it's not terribly efficient. According to the leak, the Free version features 400, while the Premium would have 1,400.
