Krafton India has opened the first official BGMI transfer window from October 1 to November 15, 2025, setting a new professional standard for roster management in Indian esports.(BGMI) beginning in October 2025. This marks a turning point for Indian esports, bringing structure and professionalism to roster management. Until now, player transfers often happened unpredictably, sometimes mid-tournament, leading to instability for teams and uncertainty for fans. Moreover, with a dedicated BGMI Transfer Season, roster movement will be streamlined and aligned with the competitive calendar.
The Indian esports industry has entered a new era with Krafton India introducing the first-ever transfer window for BGMI. Running from October 1 to November 15, 2025, this system allows teams to sign, release, or trade players within a fixed period before rosters are locked for six months. This move brings structure, accountability, and professionalism to a scene that has often been defined by chaotic roster shuffles.During the six-week window, organizations can make strategic roster changes including new signings, swaps, or releases. Once the deadline passes, lineups will remain fixed until the next cycle, preventing mid-season switches and impulsive changes that often disrupt team chemistry. Krafton will continue this biannual format with two windows every year.
A transfer season is a defined period during which teams can officially sign, release, or transfer players. Once the BGMI transfer season closes, Krafton will lock the rosters for the upcoming cycle of tournaments. This ensures that teams compete with stable line-ups throughout major events, avoiding last-minute changes that can disrupt competition.
There will be two six-month transfer windows every year:
Window 1 (October – March/April): Covers the Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) and third-party tournaments.
Window 2 (April – September): Runs alongside the Battlegrounds Mobile Pro Series (BMPS), Battlegrounds Mobile Masters Series (BGMS), Skyesports Championship, Upthrust, and other major competitions.
The first runs from October to April, aligning with third-party events and BGIS, while the second from April to September coincides with tournaments like Skyesports, Upthrust, BMPS, and BGMS. Teams that fail to comply risk being barred from both official and third-party competitions, showing Krafton’s determination to enforce discipline.
The introduction of a structured transfer system is a landmark step for the Indian gaming ecosystem. By bringing stability, it ensures that teams focus on long-term growth instead of short-term fixes. Fans benefit from greater transparency, with roster moves now being scheduled and easy to follow. Most importantly, the change raises the professional bar for Indian esports, bringing it closer to international standards where contracts, transfer fees, and planned roster cycles are the norm.
Krafton is also adding a live leaderboard to track registered teams and their compliance, rewarding those who operate within the rules while penalizing violators.Players benefit from greater contract security and transparent opportunities for movement, while teams gain stability in their line-ups. For fans, it means fewer surprises and stronger narratives as line-ups remain intact throughout tournaments.
In short, the BGMI Transfer Season will help BGMI take a step closer to the standards followed in global sports and leading esports ecosystems.
Krafton India has confirmed that non-compliance will have consequences. Teams that fail to follow BGMI transfer season regulations risk being barred from participating in third-party tournaments. Moreover, event organizers are expected to conduct eligibility checks, ensuring that only registered and compliant rosters take part. This transfer window is more than just a scheduling update. It is a statement of intent that signals Indian esports is maturing into a structured and sustainable ecosystem.
For players, it means job security and a clearer career path. For teams, it means building rosters strategically with synergy and planning. For fans, it makes the scene more exciting, predictable, and professional.Krafton’s initiative marks the beginning of a new chapter where chaos is replaced by structure and where esports in India can grow with a long-term vision. With the first transfer window now open, the stage is set for a competitive and professional future in BGMI.
To support the BGMI transfer season framework, Krafton will introduce a live leaderboard with world rankings. This system has already been tested and will launch alongside the transfer windows. It will allow fans and organizations to track performance across the ecosystem, giving visibility not just to top teams but also to the estimated 300,000-400,000 squads competing in BGMI.For more details on the future of BGMI esports, what players and fans can look forward to, and more, watch our podcast with Karan Pathak, Associate Director of Esports at Krafton India
