he VALORANT esports community was left a bit shocked when star player Jordan Zellsis Montemurro left Sentinels late last week.
At the time, Zellsis simply put that he was grateful for his time at Sentinels, the happy times, the sad times, the angry times, but he has since opened up a bit more about his decision to leave the organisation after two impactful seasons.
Zellsis shared a positive farewell on X, saying he was "glad it all happened" despite it not ending as hoped. However, he recently opened up about a troubling reason behind his departure from Sentinels: the fanbase and public harassment. On stream, Zellsis explained that while he didn't mind criticism about his looks or gameplay, the intense hate directed at him and even his family, including death threats, became too much. Though he expected some backlash due to political tweets he posted, the harassment crossed his boundary. He hoped leaving Sentinels would reduce this abuse.
Zellsis emphasized that harassment wasn't the sole reason for leaving but was a significant factor. The VALORANT community on Reddit expressed concern about esports fan behavior, recalling many instances of hateful messages from Sentinels fans toward Zellsis.
As of now, Zellsis has not revealed his next team. The VALORANT off season remains busy, with organizations like Gen.G recruiting players and Team Secret announcing their new lineup.
