Esports has begun in the Apex Mobile side as we witnessed the first ever major event to take place, credits to the organizers: The Esports Club (TEC) and 8BIT Thug. The event titled "Thug Invitationals" organized by TEC and powered by JBL Quantum Gaming Headsets had a prizepool of Rs 2,50,000 and saw most streamers from the 8BIT Creatives being invited and were told to form a team with the players of the community. Every streamer had roped in players through their social media posts, and had a preparation time of 2 days to get used to their team.
The event lasted for 3 days with 6 games everyday. Since there is no option to spectate a private game in the game, the organizers requested all streamers to stream their games so that the event could be streamed in such a way that the Point of View (PoV) of each team can be switched according to their stream. The event ran smoothly and pretty competitive, with the streamers also performing up to the mark even without prior experience of playing the game.
With the prizepool split to top 4 teams, the result wasn't obvious as it relied until the end of the final game on the last day to ajudge the top 4 teams. With all the teams in the middle of the points table giving it their all to get to the top 4, we witnessed an insane final match as Team Zeref, who was placed about #8 or #9 until the end of Game 5 on the final day, clutched the final game as they reached the 3rd position at the end of the day and took home Rs. 50,000.
The event was a great success as Team Viper was crowned champions of Thug Invitationals. I'm really happy for 3 of my teams who grabbed the 5th, 6th and 8th positions, where the first two teams lost the 4th spot by just a point and two respectively. Hoping for more events like these and expecting more TOs, and even iQOO themselves to enter the scene so that we can have a bright scene in Apex Mobile. 💯
