The angle of the "waggle run" relative to the vertical axis inside the dark hive corresponds to the angle of the food source relative to the sun outside the hive. The duration of the waggle run indicates the distance to the resource. 📏
Sound and Scent
The bee enhances the dance by producing a vibration/sound with her wings during the waggle run, which the other bees feel. She also offers samples of the food source (nectar or pollen) and leaves behind the scent, providing olfactory cues to the quality of the discovery. 👃
