🧠 Thread 93: Why People Fear Missing Out

Fear of missing out comes from uncertainty about choice. When you choose one path, the brain imagines better possibilities on the paths you didn’t take.

The mind romanticizes what it doesn’t have.

People fear missing out because:

• Unchosen options feel more attractive

• Possibility feels exciting

• Commitment feels limiting

• Comparison increases dissatisfaction

This is why scrolling, watching others’ lives, and endless options increase restlessness.

Choosing creates peace.

Comparing creates noise.

Contentment grows when attention settles.
