HEY GUYS,
HOPE YOU'RE DOING WELL
Where it is & why it’s hidden:
Socotra lies in the Arabian Sea, off the coast of Yemen. Its remote location and rough seas make it hard to access, keeping it largely hidden from typical travelers.
History, legends & mystery:
The island has been isolated for millions of years, allowing unique flora and fauna to evolve that aren’t found anywhere else on Earth. Locals call it the “Island of Dragons” due to the dragon blood trees, which bleed red resin.
What makes it special or strange:
Socotra is home to 700+ species of plants found nowhere else. Its landscapes feel alien, with twisted dragon blood trees, limestone plateaus, and white sand beaches. It looks like a science-fiction world come to life.
Can people visit or not?
Yes, but tourism is very limited due to its location, political situation, and conservation efforts. Only guided tours are recommended to preserve its unique ecosystem.
