Nod-Krai is the somewhat autonomous region of Schneznaya in Genshin Impact, and we're building plenty of characters from these new and upcoming areas using the boss materials made available on these earliest islands, whether as part of the main story or as optional bosses for if you've pulled the best characters.

The Radiant Moongecko was added in version 6.4 of Genshin Impact and is the source of the ascension material you'll need if you're trying to build Varka, the Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius. Here's how you can prepare for and defeat the Radiant Moongecko in Genshin Impact.

Where To Find The Radiant Moongecko

As you'll suspect of a boss that was added in the version 6.4 update of Genshin Impact during the unveiling of the Nod-Krai region, you'll bve able to find the Radiant Moongecko to the east of Wavechaser Plain, just south of Favonius Keep.

The fastest way to get to the Radiant Moongecko is by warping to the waypoint south of Amsvartnir, the one at the top of the long chain of metal platforms that raise and lower between sections of the cliff sides in the area. From the warp spot the first time, you'll see a Lunoculous in the mouth of a cave opening to the southwest of the waypoint to entice you into the opening in the cliff. Just inside, you'll see a locked chest and a person named Vacarao.

Speak to Vacarao if you'd like to begin a short quest about guiding a creature out of the cage using your varying kinds of energy, but if you're looking for the boss fight, drop to the bottom floor of the cave and go into the opening on the southwest wall to come across the Radiant Moongecko.

You could also choose to enter from the waterfall area northeast of the Wavechaser Plain Statue of the New Moon. There's another waypoint inside here to make it easier to find the Radiant Moongecko in Genshin Impact again.

How To Defeat The Radiant Moongecko

Use Geo, Lunar-Crystalize, And Claymores Against Its Shield

When you fight the Radiant Moongecko in Genshin Impact, you'll find it to be well covered by multiple shield bars at the top of the screen, with the typical single yellow shield bar divided into eight shield sections you'll need to deal with if you're hoping to chip at its HP overall. It appears during a large choreographed action of the Radiant Moongecko lifting and lighting its tail with the power of Geo, as pillars form in the ground around you.

When it's outside the shield, hit the light in the center to break the shield and bring it down. Thankfully, it takes damage to its HP every time you deplete a full bar worth of shield, so keep breaking its shields to progress the fight. The best way to do this is with a handful of Geo attacks on the whole. While you'll find yourself having a pretty easy time of this boss fight in Genshin Impact with any Geo attacks on hand, the quickest way to deal with the Radiant Moongecko is to perform Lunar-Crystalized reactions.

These are the elemental reactions that occur when you mix Geo and Hydro damage on a single foe when said damage is being done by a character from Nod-Krai that utilizes the Moon Wheel of these characters. Geo and Hydro damage-users can help here, but they can't trigger the effect themselves.

Regular Geo damage also works well here, as do claymores and any plunging attacks, things that deal massive damage to structures sturdy as rock.

Finally, beware of the Radiant Cocoon it can trap your characters in, which makes them unable to do things like deal critical damage, heal effectively, and they even take increased damage, too. Heal to full health to remove this effect from any character during the battle to return them to their normal stats given by your careful curation of artifact sets once again (and naturally to remove any damage they've taken).

The best team comps to bring into the battle with the Radiant Moongecko in Genshin Impact depends on the kind of damage you're looking to deal.

If you've got the Nod-Krai characters that work well together to produce the Lunar-Crystalize team, then we'd definitely recommend doing so. Nod-Krai archon Columbina works well here with the handful of Geo characters we've gotten so far for Nod-Krai, like Zibai or Illuga, to produce the Lunar-Crystalize reaction during the battle, with their Elemental Skills coming in handy here to apply Geo. Aino is a good choice if you didn't pull Columbina, also able to apply the necessary Hydro.
