Notification Panel Sorting is Backwards and Breaks Message Readability
Device: iQOO 15R (I2508)
Software: PD2536BF_EX_A_16.0.9.6.W30
I recently switched to the iQOO 15R and immediately ran into a major usability issue with the notification panel design.
Notifications inside a conversation are sorted newest → oldest (descending order).
This means when multiple messages arrive, the panel shows them like this:
Message 3
Message 2
Message 1
Which forces users to read bottom → top to understand the conversation. That is completely unnatural for how humans read.
In chat apps like:
WhatsApp
Telegram
Gmail
Slack
the conversation context becomes confusing because the timeline is visually reversed.
Why this is bad UX
Conversation flow becomes harder to follow
It breaks natural reading direction (top → bottom)
Makes quick notification scanning slower
Most Android implementations historically display messages in chronological order inside the stack, making them readable instantly.
Expected behavior
Either:
Option 1
Notifications should display oldest → newest within the group
or
Option 2
Give users a notification sorting toggle
Settings → Notifications → Sorting order
• Newest first
• Oldest first
Right now there is no option to change this, and it significantly degrades the notification experience.
This is not a minor preference issue.
It is a core usability flaw in daily interaction with the phone.
Would like to know if this is intentional design or something that can be fixed in an update.
Performance lag can go unnoticed but this is completely visible in day to day usage.
