Epic Games is back with another giveaway, and this time, users can grab an award-winning Metroidvania game for free. The giveaway is live until April 30, after which it will be replaced by another game.

Epic Games continues its weekly tradition of giving away free titles. Last week, users were able to claim The Stone of Madness for free, but that offer has now ended. In its place, Epic has added a new giveaway, and it’s an award-winning Metroidvania game.

Right now, if you head over to the Epic Games Store, you can claim Doomblade completely free. The game usually costs $14.99, but for a limited time, you can add it to your library without paying anything. The offer will remain live until April 30, after which it will be replaced by next week’s free title, Oddsparks: An Automation Adventure.

As for what Doomblade offers, it’s a 2D action Metroidvania with a unique twist. You play as a character called Gloom Girl, who teams up with a powerful sentient weapon known as Doomblade. The two set out on a journey to regain lost powers and take revenge on enemies that imprisoned the blade.

The gameplay focuses on fast movement and combat, where you can dash through the air and target your enemies. As you explore different interconnected areas, you unlock new abilities, fight new enemies, and gradually grow stronger.

The game currently holds a “Very Positive” rating on Steam, with many praising its music, smooth movement, and fast-paced platforming.

On top of that, Doomblade also earned recognition by securing 3rd place in the Action category at the 2023 Game Development Championship.
