Last year when iQOO launched its last flagship iQOO 15, it made a bold statement. Packing Qualcomm's absolute powerhouse - the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5-alongside a massive 7,000mAh battery and a specialized cooling system, it was clearly targeted at hardcore users.

But synthetic benchmarks and launch-day hype only tell part of the story. After months of real-world, day-to-day testing as a primary device tells the real story, if the Quest is going smooth or it ended a after the launch and hype fades.

Here is a detailed, long-term breakdown of how the iQOO 15 holds up over time, looking closely at its design, performance, camera, battery, and software to help you decide if it's still worth your hard-earned money.

📱 Design & Build: Refined and Highly Ergonomic

One of the biggest concerns with modern flagships packing massive batteries is bulk. Yet, holding the iQOO 15 after a few months, it still feels surprisingly elegant with these notably visible features:

•Frame Finish : Premium Matte Aluminum

•Back Panel : Flat Frosted Glass, matte finish

•Durability Rating : IP68 / IP69 (Water & Dust Resistant)

•Port Standards : USB 3.2

and continuing the legacy of all the number series devices this one also comes in two color shades one is most widely loved Legend edition and the other one is Alpha black and these are backed by the special Apex edition.

Premium Matte Grip: Moving away from the glossy frames of its predecessors, iQOO implemented a gorgeous matte-finish aluminum frame. Combined with the flat frosted glass back, it looks stunning, though the texture can occasionally feel slick without a case.

The silicon case for the iQOO 15 provides a snug, flexible fit that offers excellent shock absorption and everyday drop protection. It features strategically raised edges around the display and the prominent rear camera module to prevent surface scratches while maintaining a sleek, lightweight grip and looks upto an extent. I have been continuously using the case from past 6 months or more and still it is in good condition.

Durability: The device boasts robust IP68/IP69 water and dust resistance, it has easily survived unexpected downpours and kitchen spills. I have also operated the device during heavy downpours or snowing weather as well and it has not disappointed me.

The Camera Island: The rear squarish camera module takes styling cues from luxury motorsport design. It does protrude, but the chamfered edges prevent it from getting awkwardly snagged on jean pockets.

📺 Display: A Class-Leading Visual Treat

The front of the device is occupied by a 6.85-inch 2K (1440x3168) LTPO AMOLED display which is bright enough to be clearly visible in outdoor conditions, also it provides really good and vibrant visuals.

Why It Excels Long-Term:

•Unmatched Brightness: Outdoors under direct afternoon sunlight, readability is a non-issue. The screen hits a phenomenal 2,600 nits in High Brightness Mode (HBM) and can peak much higher for HDR content.

•The Triple Light Sensor Advantage: Instead of standard dual sensors, the iQOO 15 features an industry-first Triple Ambient Light Sensor array. This makes the auto-brightness transition incredibly smooth and intelligent, adjusting accurately whether you're under fluorescent office lights or in a dark bedroom.

•Smooth 144Hz LTPO: Thanks to its 8T LTPO panel, the refresh rate smartly scales all the way down to 1Hz when the screen is static, helping preserve that massive battery during text reading or viewing photos.

•Performance & Gaming: The combination of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and up to 16GB of LPDDR5X Ultra RAM makes the phone fly. Here are the Burnout CPU Throttle Test - Performance Retention percentage when compared with the so called closest competition i.e. Oneplus 15

iQOO 15 -> 51.7%

OnePlus 15 -> 33.2%

•Thermal Management Hero: iQOO 15 has a monstrous 8,000mm² single-layer vapour chamber cooling system. In stress testing, while competitors like the OnePlus 15 throttle hard down to 33.2% performance under heavy prolonged load, the iQOO 15 comfortably retains 51.7% of its peak performance. It gets warm, but never burning hot.

•Real-World Gaming: Titles like Call of Duty: Mobile run flawlessly at a locked 144fps without hitching. Everyday multitasking, app switching, and rendering 4K videos are completely instantaneous.

🔋 Battery & Charging: On paper, the fourth-generation silicon-carbon 7,000mAh battery sounds like a multi-day warrior. In practice, the story is a bit more nuanced.

•Endurance: Make no mistake, the active use times are superb. You can easily push 7 to 8 hours of intensive screen-on time, safely taking casual users through two full days and heavy users through 1.5 days. I have got upto 10 hrs of screentime on really hectic usage like attending long meetings with my camera on, streaming, playing CodM, editing pictures, scrolling social media and much more.

The Optimization Paradox: Curiously, synthetic PCMark benchmarks show it falls slightly short of competitors with similar or slightly larger batteries. The ultra-bright 2K screen and aggressive performance governor consume power greedily when pushed.

Bonus point: the device is bundled with 100W fast PD charger meaning you can use it to fast-charge your laptop too. It also supports bypass charging, allowing gamers to pull power directly from the electricity outlet into the motherboard, preventing the battery from overheating while gaming plugged in.

📸 Camera(Rear): Great Daytime Versatility, Slight softer during night photography.

The iQOO 15 adopts a very capable triple 50MP setup inspired heavily by Vivo's flagship lines:

 1. Primary: 50MP Sony IMX921 with OIS

 2. Ultrawide: 50MP sensor

 3. Telephoto: 50MP Sony IMX882 3x Periscope (up to 100x digital zoom)

The Good: Daytime photography is remarkably crisp. It easily beats rivals in preserving fine textures in foliage and landscaping. Dynamic range is vast, and if you switch to the "Natural" color preset, it reins in over-saturation quite nicely.

The Periscope Return: Bringing back the 3x periscope lens allows for gorgeous portrait shots with authentic optical depth and excellent exposure control.

Video Quality: Stabilization on the primary shooter is incredibly rigid and reliable. You get crisp, well-exposed video files up to 8K.

The downgrade: I personally feel like a little downgrade in details in the macro mode, and not having ultra stabilisation for videos at 4K-30/60 FPS feels like a total videography disappointment.

⚙️ Software: Beautifully Fluid and Interactive

The iQOO 15 ships with OriginOS 6 / Funtouch OS built on top of Android 16.

The long-term software promise is its biggest redeeming quality - iQOO officially guarantees 5 years of major Android updates and 7 years of security patches. The UI animations are silky, memory management is incredibly efficient, and custom lock screens and notification stacks feel modern. Also the integration of vivo ecosystem softwares is making the device more premium. Like the iQOO 15 is loaded with vivo office kit. One can use it to transfer files between a smartphone device and a desktop remotely and wirelessly without using a third party softwares. Also NFC the device feels futuristic as it is NFC enabled, making payments, card handling, data transfer seemless and easy.

However, it isn't perfect. For a device costing premium tier money, encountering pre-installed bloatware and occasional app recommendation pop-ups from the native Vivo app ecosystem cheapens an otherwise premium user experience.

Pros & Cons

Before making your final choice, let's look at the absolute highs and lows of the iQOO 15 after extensive real-world usage.

The Pros

Unmatched Thermal Performance: The 8,000mm² VC cooler keeps the Snapdragon 8 Elite running smoother for longer than almost any other phone in its class.

Stunning Samsung M14 2K Display:** Blindingly bright, remarkably power efficient at low refresh rates, and beautifully tuned for media consumption.

Ultrasonic Fingerprint & Connectivity:** The under-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor is blazing fast, and the inclusion of USB 3.2 with video output is a massive plus for power users.

Excellent Long-Term Update Commitment:** A 5-year Android upgrade cycle ensures this phone stays relevant well into the decade.

Best in the segment camera: the rear camera performs so well, it captures clear details and colors.

Competitive pricing

The Cons

Camera Software Quirks: The 32MP front camera tends to heavily oversharpen facial features and can soften skin colors unnaturally and still feels like a big downgrading point for a flagship. Furthermore, the ultrawide camera lens field-of-view is narrower than typical flagships.

Software Bloat: Minor bloatware and system store notifications still creep up out of the box.

Lack of stabilisation in 4K Videos: Despite having the computing horsepower to do so, higher-frame-rate 4K video recording options are absent.

Final Thoughts

The iQOO 15 is an absolute powerhouse of a smartphone. If your priority list places sustained gaming performance, structural cooling, a gorgeous display, awesome portraits and multi-day battery stamina right at the top, this phone remains an incredibly easy recommendation.

While its front camera system isn't flawlessly optimized to go toe-to-toe with dedicated photography flagships.
