YouTube has announced several new updates for Shorts focused on improving viewing experience, content control, and feed personalization.

A new Clear Screen mode removes on-screen elements like descriptions and buttons for a cleaner and more immersive viewing experience.

YouTube is also adding 2x playback speed, letting users watch Shorts faster, along with a new mute option and a Shorts timer for better viewing control.

To improve recommendations, YouTube is replacing the traditional dislike button with more specific feedback options like“Not Interested”and “Don't Recommend This Channel.”Positive engagement will now be represented using a heart icon instead of the thumbs-up button.

These updates are rolling out gradually to YouTube Shorts users globally.
