First of all HAPPY MAHASHIVRATRI 🕉️ to all of you guys.friends you know what is the meaning and story behind this festival and when MahaShivratri is celebrated? K, let me tell you all this in this thread. So let's Start 😊.
A Shivaratri (Shiv Ki Ratri) – "night of Shiva" – is observed on the night before the full moon during every month of the luni-solar Hindu calendar. Once a year, in late winter and before the arrival of summer (February/March), this night is observed as "MAHA SHIVRATRI" – "the great night of Shiva".
It is a notable festival in Hinduism, marking a remembrance of "overcoming darkness and ignorance" in life and the world. It is observed by remembering Shiva and chanting prayers, fasting, and meditating on ethics and virtues such as honesty, non-injury to others, charity, forgiveness, and the discovery of Shiva .
According to legend, Maha Shivaratri marks the occasion when Shiva first performed the Tandava Nritya – also known as the dance of primordial creation, preservation, and destruction. It was through this dance of devotion that Lord Shiva saved the world from destruction.
Another story says that, It is celebrated as the anniversary of Lord Shiva🔱 and Goddess Parvati. It is also celebrated as a day when Shiva saved the world from the pot of poison. And also, this day marks when Brahma and Vishnu got involved in an argument about their supremacy.
This day should be spend in prayer🙏 of Lord Shiv, do fasting, meditation, listening bhajan's (any devotional song with a religious theme) and celebrate🎊😊.
Shivratri is celebrated on the night of the 13th or 14th day of the waning moon of the Hindu month Maagha, while Mahashivratri is celebrated on the 13th eve or 14th day of the waning moon of the Hindu month Phalguna. While Shivratri is observed (or celebrated) every month, Mahashivratri is a once-a-year event.
It is celebrated according to the planetary system due to the wobble performed by the Earth around the Sun. The gravitational pull of the Moon is maximum on the new Moon and full moon day, resulting in the rise of full body fluid in an upward direction towards the brain.
It is believed that praying on Shiva on the day of Mahashivratri blesses one with benevolence and prosperity as Shiva is revered as Mahadev. Shiva is the soul of everything. Mahashivratri is an occasion to remember the eternal truth of Shivoham, meaning 'I am that principle. I am Shiva.
