After weeks of teasers, leaks and official reveals, the wait is finally almost over.

Today, we finally get to see what the iQOO 16 is actually capable of. ⚡

From the world's first 2K 165Hz Samsung M16 display to the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 + Q4 gaming chip, upgraded cameras and all those battery rumours — there is A LOT to unpack before the curtain goes up.

So, before the launch begins-> let's talk about what we know, what's leaked, and what we're expecting. 👀

FIRST UP — THAT 2K 165Hz DISPLAY

This is probably the biggest confirmed highlight so far.

The iQOO 16 is set to feature a Samsung M16 AMOLED panel with 2K resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate — making it the world's first smartphone with this combination, according to iQOO/Samsung's announcement.

And the numbers are seriously impressive:

🔹 Samsung M16 luminescent material

🔹 LEAD 2.0 technology

🔹 Up to 2,800 nits global peak brightness

🔹 Up to 10,000 nits local peak brightness

🔹 Up to 3,300Hz PWM dimming

🔹 Up to 500Hz multi-finger touch sampling

🔹 iQOO's Q-Flex control technology

And there's one specification I find particularly interesting:

iQOO says this display can consume 31% less power than a same-size 1.5K panel.

So we're potentially getting:

2K sharpness + 165Hz smoothness + better efficiency.

That's a combination I really want to see in real-world use. 

THE CHIPSET WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR

This is where things get properly interesting.

iQOO has confirmed that the iQOO 16 will use Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6.

And it won't be working alone.

The phone is also expected to feature iQOO's Q4 gaming chip, which is designed to handle additional gaming-related processing.

According to iQOO's reveals, the Q4 chip can enable:

1. 2K gaming
2.  Up to 165fps
3.  Super-resolution
4.  Frame generation
5.  Full-scene ray tracing

Combine that with a 165Hz panel and suddenly the display specification starts making a lot more sense.

I'm particularly curious to see how much of this translates into actual sustained gaming performance, rather than just benchmark numbers.

IS iQOO GOING ALL-IN ON CAMERAS?

This is probably the biggest surprise for me.

iQOO has confirmed a 50MP main camera with a 1/1.3-inch sensor, and claims it can capture 79% more light than the iQOO 15.

The company is also talking about:

• Super HDR imaging
• NICE 3.0 optical reconstruction
• CIPA 5.5-level stabilisation

And leaks have pointed towards a triple-camera setup consisting of:

50MP Main + 50MP Ultra-Wide + 50MP Periscope Telephoto

with the periscope reportedly offering 3x optical zoom.

If this turns out to be accurate, this could be one of the most interesting camera upgrades we've seen from iQOO's numbered flagship lineup.

Because traditionally, iQOO has been known first for performance.

Now I'm wondering:

AND THEN THERE'S THAT MASSIVE BATTERY LEAK…

This is where we need to put a big “LEAK” label. 👀

Several reports have pointed towards an 8,400mAh battery, paired with 100W wired charging and potentially 50W wireless charging.

If that turns out to be true tomorrow…

8,400mAh + Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 + 2K 165Hz display

is a pretty wild combination.

But this is exactly why I'm waiting for tomorrow's launch before treating the battery and charging specifications as final.

AND THE DESIGN HAS CHANGED TOO

iQOO isn't just upgrading what's inside.

The iQOO 16 gets a completely redesigned rear camera module, with iQOO describing the design around a “robotic arm” concept.

And we've already seen three China colourways:

• Chasing Light
• Legendary
• Racing Track

The Chasing Light version especially looks interesting, with its laser-holographic finish and red/blue light effects.

I'm definitely curious to see what these look like in actual hands rather than renders.

Today, we'll finally get the answers.

The iQOO 16 is stepping onto the stage in China. 🔥

And I'm most excited to see whether iQOO can actually bring together:
