Holi is a festive occasion mostly observed in India and Nepal. Other names for it include the festival of love, the festival of spring, and the festival of colours. The origins of Holi can be traced back to ancient Hindu literature, particularly the Puranas and the Vedas.

The narrative of Prahlad, a youthful prince and Lord Vishnu-follower, is among the most well-known ones connected to the Holi celebration. Due of Prahlad's refusal to revere the demon king Hiranyakashipu as a god, Prahlad's father, the demon king, sought to kill him. He instructed Holika, Hiranyakashipu's sister, to join Prahlad on a pyre because she was immune to fire.
