We all use PDFs in our daily lives for various purposes. Do you know what does it stand for, why it even exists, and many more facts? Today allow me to tell you some interesting things about PDFs.

WHAT IS A PDF?

-> Portable Document Format (PDF) is a file format developed by Adobe in 1992, which includes texts and images.

WHY DOES PDF EXIST?

-> If you have used Word, Spreadsheet, etc. like various file formats, you must have noticed that if you use the same file across multiple PCs or Smartphones, the font, alignment, etc. gets changed. They don't always remain in the same style, you intended it to. 

    To solve this problem, PDFs came into the picture. No matter you change as many devices, the same style remains as you intended to as long as you use software that supports PDFs.

    PDFs include all the fonts, images, etc. inside themselves, so it’s not machine-dependent.

BENEFITS OF USING PDFS?

1. Easy to Create.
2. PDFs are a popular way to digitalize important historical, legal documents. You'll mostly see people signing important documents in PDF format rather than any other format.
3. The PDF format allows you to integrate various types of content like text, images, audio files, 3D models, interactive fields, vector graphics, videos, animations, hyperlinks & buttons.
4. PDFs offer different levels of access to protect the content by ways such as watermarks, passwords, or digital signatures.
5. PDFs can be compressed into a file size easily to exchange while retaining full control over the level of media quality.

BUT WHY DO PDFs SUCK?

1. They are difficult to edit. You have to pay Premium to Adobe to get access to the tools to edit them.
2. They are relatively difficult to convert to other file formats. If you tried to edit them using third-party software, they get weird and don't look or be able to edit the way you intended.
