Hi iQOO fans
Arm has recently unveiled its latest 5th Generation GPUs, including the Immortalis G720, Mali G720, and Mali G620. These GPUs are designed to deliver a substantial performance boost compared to their predecessors, with the Immortalis G720 being Arm's most advanced GPU to date. The announcement coincided with Arm's introduction of the Total Compute Solution for 2023, featuring the Cortex-X4, A720, and A520.
It's worth noting that the Immortalis-G720 and Mali-G720 share the same name, which can potentially confuse readers. Let's delve into the differences between Immortalis and Mali GPUs. The key distinction lies in the fact that Immortalis GPUs must have a ray tracing unit. Ray tracing is a technique used to simulate the behavior of light in a scene, resulting in more realistic and immersive graphics. Conversely, Mali-branded GPUs can incorporate ray tracing but are not obligated to do
Moreover, the Immortalis GPU boasts a greater number of cores compared to Mali GPUs. This enables it to process more graphics operations simultaneously, thereby enhancing overall performance. The Immortalis-G720, being the most powerful GPU, features up to 16 cores and supports hardware-based ray tracing. The Mali-G720 is a mid-range GPU with a core count ranging from six to nine. As for the Mali-G620, it is limited to five cores.
Alongside the new GPUs, Arm has also unveiled its flagship Cortex-X4 CPU core. While the company has not revealed the exact phones or chip makers that will incorporate the new CPU and GPU, it is highly likely that Qualcomm will utilize them in their upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen chip.
