Hey Questers🎉!
This news is all about the safety of Bike Riders. So without further ado let's start this news in detail.
According to news coming from automobile industry, Autoliv (Swedish automotive safety supplier) is going to launch airbag-on-bike with production beginning in Q1 2025. The bag-on-bike airbag can significantly reduce the risk of serious injury for powered two-wheeler riders in frontal crashes.
Autoliv's extensive research into powered two-wheeler riding behaviour and crashes has resulted in two sets of solutions - on-vehicle safety solutions and on-rider safety solutions. The first product to reach the market will be the bag-on-bike airbag, which is planned to go into production with the first customer in 2025.
1) On-vehicle safety solutions (via a bag-on-bike system)
2) On-rider safety solutions (Not yet revealed, but we’d imagine this to be a bag-on-rider gig).
The first will come with “an optional in-house-developed electronic crash sensor to complete the system,” with a production date set to the first quarter of 2025.
“… we are developing products that specifically protect vulnerable road users, such as riders of powered two-wheelers. The development of these products is an integral part of our sustainability agenda,” says Mikael Bratt, the CEO and President of Autoliv.
