The long-awaited official launch of the ChatGPT app for Android has been confirmed by OpenAI through a tweet. Starting today, the app is available for download, but the release is being done gradually, with only users in the US, India, Bangladesh, and Brazil currently having access. The rest of the world can expect the app to become available in the following weeks, according to the tweet.
Upon installation, users can choose between the Free GPT-3.5 model or opt for the Paid GPT-4 model. However, it appears that ChatGPT plugins support is currently not integrated into the Android app. Similar to the iOS version, the Android app offers voice-to-text support. Users can conveniently record their voice by tapping the microphone icon, and the app will automatically convert the spoken words into text.
With the ChatGPT app readily available on both Android and iOS, users no longer need to rely on opening a browser window for access. For those interested in using the GPT-4 model for free, a linked guide is provided. Additionally, the app also includes instructions on how to test GPT-4’s multimodal feature in Bing Chat immediately."
