Qualcomm has recently introduced the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, a budget-friendly mobile chipset that brings significant enhancements to lower-tier smartphones. Aimed at midrange devices, this updated chip offers several improvements, making it a feature-rich system-on-a-chip (SoC) with a focus on utilitarian needs rather than being the most advanced available.
One of the standout features of the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 is its emphasis on excellent battery life, promising "all-day use." The chip's Kryo CPU can reach speeds of up to 2.2 GHz, delivering a 10% performance boost compared to the previous generation. It utilizes a 4nm process, a first for this series, with two performance cores and six efficiency cores to optimize processes and conserve energy.
The chipset also offers impressive display performance, supporting FHD+ displays with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. On the connectivity front, the X61 5G Modem-RF system provides greater flexibility, supporting a wide range of frequencies and networks for a more reliable and extensive connection.
However, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2's most notable feature seems to be its improved photography and videography capabilities. It boasts faster autofocus and electronic image stabilization (EIS) for quicker and more reliable photo capture. The chipset also employs Multi Camera Temporal Filtering to enhance noise reduction in videos. It's worth noting that the chipset supports up to 1080p resolution for videos and lacks 4K video support.
