Hello IQOO Fans,
How are you? We hope that you're doing well and enjoying yourselves in the IQOO Community.
In August 2023, Google Play Services will stop supporting Android KitKat in upcoming versions. Android KitKat, released in 2013, will no longer receive updates or support from Google Play Services. This decision is a result of Google's focus on prioritizing more modern Android platforms, enabling advanced features and security updates while optimizing developer efforts.
Android KitKat marked a major milestone for the Android operating system and introduced various key features such as immersive full-screen mode, hands-free Google Now with full-screen widget, native printer support, subtitle and closed caption support in the video player, better speed dialing option and smarter caller ID, emojis on the Google keyboard, and the Google Smart Cards page on the home screen.
However, after almost a decade, Google realizes that continued support for KitKat in Play Services does not bring significant benefits to users, especially since less than 1% of active Android devices are still running this version. As a result, it becomes impractical to maintain support for an outdated platform in Play Services.
This change will take effect from version 23.30.99 in August, and future releases of Play Services will no longer be compatible with Android 4.4 devices (API levels 19 and 20) due to the end of KitKat support.
