Navratri is a nine-day festival that honors the different forms of Goddess Durga, the supreme mother of the universe. Each day is dedicated to one form of Goddess Durga, The fifth being dedicated to Goddess Skand Mata.
Let's know more about the fifth day, and Goddess Skand Mata.
Skand Mata is the fifth form of Goddess Durga that is worshipped on the fifth day of Navratri. She is also known as Padmasana Devi or Parvati. She is the mother of Lord Kartikeya, who is also called Skanda, Murugan or Subramanya. He is the god of war and the commander-in-chief of the gods. Skand Mata is depicted as a beautiful woman with four arms, holding a lotus flower in each upper hand and her son Kartikeya in her lap. She has a white complexion, representing purity and peace. She rides on a lion, symbolizing her courage and power.
The fifth day of Navratri is very significant for the devotees of Skand Mata.
She is the goddess of Vishuddha Chakra, which is the throat chakra that governs communication, expression and creativity.
By worshipping Skand Mata, one can attain clarity of mind, speech and vision. She also blesses her devotees with wisdom, knowledge and prosperity.
She removes all the negative thoughts, stress and anxiety from their lives and fills them with divine joy and bliss.
She is very compassionate and loving towards her children and fulfills their wishes.
