Dhordo - Gujrat awarded Best Tourism Village 2023

Hello Questers,

Situated in Gujarat's Kutch area, the village of Dhordo is well-known for serving as the entry point to the Great Rann of Kutch. Additionally, Rann Utsav was launched in this same area back in 2005. With all of its cultural effects, Dhordo village is a well-known name nowadays. The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) has awarded Dhordo the esteemed distinction of Best Tourism Village.

Dhordo today holds this esteemed status along with 70 other settlements from about 40 nations. On October 19, 2023, at the UNWTO-hosted Best Tourism Village - 2023 award ceremony in the Uzbek historic city of Samarkand, Dhordo was given this honor.

Dhordo is a village located in the Kutch district of the Indian state of Gujarat. It is known for its proximity to the Great Rann of Kutch, a seasonal salt marsh in the Thar Desert. The Great Rann of Kutch is one of the largest salt deserts in the world and is famous for its vast, white expanse, which is created by the drying of the salt after the monsoon season.

The Rann Utsav typically begins in October or November and continues until February or March, coinciding with the more favorable winter weather conditions in the desert.
