Hello Questers,
Happy Halloween today I'm here to share with you all the origins of Halloween " Trick or Treating"
The tradition of trick-or-treating has its origins in Scotland and Ireland, where it can be traced back to at least the 16th century. This tradition, known as "guising," involved people going from house to house on Halloween, donning costumes, and performing for food or treats.
the earliest known instance of guising, where children disguised in costume visited houses for food or money, dates back to 1911, documented in the province of Ontario, Canada. The famous phrase "trick or treat!" was first recorded in Ontario in 1917.
While the practice of going from house to house in costume has a long history in Scotland and Ireland, it's only in the 2000s that the expression "trick or treat" has become common in these regions. Prior to this, children in Ireland typically used the phrase "help the Halloween party" when visiting homeowners.
