Leif K-Brooks expressed his concerns in a lengthy message on the website, stating, "The battle for Omegle has been lost, but the war against the Internet rages on.He mentioned that operating Omegle is no longer sustainable, financially nor psychologically.He also added, "Frankly, I don't want to have a heart attack in my 30s.🥲

3. About Omegle:

Omegle was a video-led chatroom where you could log on and be automatically connected with a stranger. Each person had the chance to end the call and switch to someone else whenever they wanted. It was launched in 2009 by Leif K-Brooks when he was 18 years old and still living with his parents.

4. Impact of Omegle:

Over the years, people have used Omegle to explore foreign cultures; to get advice about their lives from impartial third parties; and to help alleviate feelings of loneliness and isolation. There have even been stories of soulmates meeting on Omegle, and getting married.

However, the platform also had a dark side, with several reports of users taking advantage of the anonymous connection to prey on unsuspecting young people, including cases of grooming and abuse.
