Hey Questers,
The Game Awards is a big deal in the gaming world, often compared to the Oscars in the movie industry. It's like a yearly celebration that praises the awesome things happening in video games. Geoff Keighley, a game expert, organizes and hosts these awards, making it quite a spectacle.
Here's what makes it super cool: it's not just about giving trophies; it's also a sneak peek event! Fans get to see trailers and hear about new games before they're even out.
Geoff recently revealed who's in the running for The Game Awards 2023. The show will happen on December 7th in Los Angeles. Exciting, right?
Now, let's talk about the esports categories at The Game Awards 2023. There are a bunch of categories, and this year, there are five awards just for esports out of a total of 31.
Here are the nominees for these esports-related awards:
The winners of each category are determined by a blended vote between the voting jury (90%) and public fan voting (10%). This is because creating a 100% fan vote presents several challenges. The Game Awards said, "In addition, it is important that winners cannot be “socially engineered” in any way. We find that a blended vote is the most credible and authentic way to select winners."
Fans can vote for their favorite games and athletes on thegameawards.com and on the official Discord server. In China, fans can vote on the winners via Bilibili, WeChat, and other platforms.
Keep in mind that the fan voting closes on 6th December (Wednesday) at 6 pm PT.
