iQOO is gearing up to launch its upcoming flagship, the iQOO 12, on December 12. This smartphone will mark a significant milestone as the first in India to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and will come pre-loaded with Funtouch OS 14 based on Android 14.

In a recent X (formerly Twitter) post, Nipun Marya, CEO of iQOO India, confirmed that the upcoming device will receive 3 years of Android updates and 4 years of security patches. This represents an improvement over the company's current policy, which offers 2 OS updates and 3 years of security updates.

Additionally, the company appears to be eliminating the contentious 'Hot Apps' and 'Hot Games' from the home screen of the iQOO 12.

Demystifying 'Hot Games' and 'Hot Apps' Folders on Vivo, Oppo, Realme, and iQOO Phones for Beginners.

For those who haven’t used a Vivo, Oppo, Realme or iQOO phone before, ‘Hot Games’ and ‘Hot Apps’ are folders on the phone’s home screen that act as shortcuts to install apps and games from the manufacturer’s own app store. Depending on your device, they can be disabled or removed, but since they are technically not apps, they cannot be uninstalled.

However, it is still unclear if the removal of Hot Apps and Hot Games will be limited to the iQOO 12 or all devices that will get the Funtouch OS 14 update.
