Lord Curzon Bridge is a road and rail bridge spanning the River Ganges and connecting Prayagraj with Phaphamau from the Teliarganj area of India. The bridge is 914 meters long. It was sanctioned as state railway bridge in 1901 and was built for both railway and vehicle traffic.
This bridge was officially named Motilal Nehru Setu after independence. But people knew this bridge made of steel only by the name of Lord Curzon Bridge and it is still known by this name even today.
George Nathaniel Curzon, 1st Marquess Curzon of Kedleston (11 January 1859 – 20 March 1925) was known commonly as Lord Curzon, was a British statesman who served as Viceroy of India from 1899 to 1905. He is well remembered in Indian history for his controversial decision to partition Bengal into two provinces.
The engineer-in-charge was Robert Richard Gales. It opened for railway traffic on June 15, 1905, and for road traffic on December 20, 1905. The bridge connects Allahabad with Phaphamau from the Teliarganj area over the Ganga river.
