Continuing its dedication to India's digital progress, Qualcomm has officially opened its Chennai Design Center, marking a substantial investment of Rs. 177.27 crores.

The center, specializing in wireless connectivity solutions, will concentrate on developing innovations that complement Wi-Fi technologies and contribute to global 5G Cellular technology research and development.

It's anticipated to generate job opportunities for up to 1600 skilled professionals, aligning with the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative.

At the inauguration ceremony,

Cristiano Amon, President & CEO of Qualcomm Incorporated, and Shri. Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister of Railways, Communications, and Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India, were both present.

The new center will unleash growth prospects for the local community.

Tamil Nadu harbors a pool of highly skilled tech professionals, and Chennai, hosting numerous multinational companies, provides a vibrant ecosystem. We eagerly anticipate collaborating extensively with our technology partners in this region. The center will propel our technological advancements, crafting cutting-edge solutions for a digitally empowered India, perfectly aligning with the government’s ambitious vision of positioning India as a global tech powerhouse.

In conclusion,

Qualcomm is expanding its business in the South. Previously, South Sriperumbudur was home to all technology manufacturing industries, but they were relocated to other states. Now, they are returning, which is a positive development for the people of Tamil Nadu, offering increased employment opportunities.
