The lights are brighter, the stakes are higher, and WrestleMania 40 is here! The Grandest Stage of Them All is set to deliver a night of electrifying matches, unforgettable moments, and drama that will have fans on the edge of their seats.

This is also the first WrestleMania held after the company was sold to Endeavor. The sale was finalized in September 2023, with WWE and Endeavor’s other subsidiary, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), merging to become divisions of a new entity called TKO Group Holdings.

The History of WrestleMania

WrestleMania, WWE’s flagship pay-per-view (PPV) and livestreaming event, has been a cornerstone of professional wrestling since its inception in 1985. It was the company’s first PPV produced and was also WWE’s first major event available via livestreaming when the company launched the WWE Network in February 2014.

WrestleMania is ranked the sixth-most valuable sports brand in the world by Forbes, and has been described as the Super Bowl of sports entertainment. Much like the Super Bowl, cities bid for the right to host the year’s edition of WrestleMania.

Broadcasting Time in India

For WWE fans in India, WrestleMania 40 will be broadcast live on Sony Sports Ten 1 SD & HD, Sony Ten Sports 3 SD & HD in Hindi, and Sony Ten Sports 4 SD & HD in Tamil & Telugu. The kick-off show will begin at 2:30 AM, and the main show will commence at 4:30 AM. Fans can also watch the event online on SonyLIV; however, a WWE Network subscription will need to be purchased.

WrestleMania 40 Matches

Here is a rundown of the exciting lineup for WrestleMania 40:

• Jey Uso vs. Jimmy Uso

WrestleMania match pitting Jey Uso against his brother Jimmy Uso has been less than a year in the making, ever since Jimmy Uso turned against Jey to "protect him" at SummerSlam prior to Jey superkicking Jimmy and quitting The Bloodline and SmackDown.

• LA Knight vs. AJ Styles

When LA Knight was competing inside the Elimination Chamber, Styles barged into the structure to attack him and disrupt his efforts to become the No. 1 Contender to World Heavyweight Champion Seth "Freakin" Rollins at WrestleMania.

• Gunther vs. Sami Zayn (Intercontinental Championship)

At WrestleMania, Sami Zayn will seek to become the Superstar to dethrone Gunther's historic reign as Intercontinental Champion. 

By the time WrestleMania rolls around, The Ring General would have ruled as Intercontinental Champion for 664 days, bulldozing everyone in his path, defeating the likes of Jey Uso, Chad Gable, Sheamus, and Drew McIntyre, to name a few.

• IYO SKY vs. Bayley (WWE Women's Championship)

Bayley is hellbent on seizing the WWE Women’s Champion when she goes to war against her former ally IYO SKY at WrestleMania.

Following a confrontation with Nia Jax on Raw, Bayley said she would reveal which Women's Champion she would challenge on SmackDown. As the faction stood stunned, Bayley turned to SKY and officially declared that she was going challenge the titleholder on The Grandest Stage of Them All.

• Logan Paul vs. Randy Orton vs. Kevin Owens (Triple Threat United States Championship)

At WrestleMania XL, United States Champion Logan Paul faces an immense challenge as he defends his title against Randy Orton and Kevin Owens in a Triple Threat Match. 

Paul wronged Owens by cheating his way to a disqualification victory during their match at Royal Rumble earlier this year, and KO has since been unrelenting in his pursuit of Paul.

At WWE Elimination Chamber, Paul made another enemy in Randy Orton. After Orton eliminated Paul with an RKO, he attacked Orton with brass knuckles, allowing Drew McIntyre to pin The Viper.

• The Pride (Bobby Lashley & The Street Profits) vs. Final Testament (Karrion Kross, Akam & Rezar) (Philadelphia Street Fight)

At WrestleMania, The Pride will go to war with The Final Testament in a Six-Man Tag Team Philadelphia Street Fight.

The rivalry grew more intense when Lashley and Kross eliminated each other in the 2024 Royal Rumble Match, when The Pride added B-Fab to their ranks, and through numerous volatile clashes between the factions on The Road to WrestleMania.

This match's stipulation allows for the use of various weapons and brawling outside the ring.

• Rhea Ripley vs. Becky Lynch (Women's World Championship)

At WrestleMania, Rhea Ripley defends her Women’s World Title against Becky Lynch. 

Becky Lynch has had her eye on the titleholder for some time, and now she finally has a chance to face her one-on-one.

The Man booked her match to WrestleMania after standing tall in the Elimination Chamber, besting Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez, Bianca Belair, Naomi and Tiffany Stratton in the vicious structure.

• Six-Pack Tag Team Ladder Match (Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship)

The Judgment Day face an uphill battle, literally, as they contend with five other teams in a brutal Six-Pack Tag Team Ladder Match for their Undisputed WWE Tag Team Titles.

Raw General Manager Adam Pearce and SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis decided which teams would compete, with three from Raw and two from SmackDown rounding out the field.  

On the March 18 episode of Raw, #DIY, Awesome Truth and The New Day earned the right to compete in the Ladder Match by defeating The Creed Brothers, Indus Sher and Alpha Academy, respectively.  

On the SmackDown side, Grayson Waller and Austin Theory and New Catch Republic earned their way into the match by winning their side of the bracket in the SmackDown tournament.

• Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson & Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes & Seth "Freakin" Rollins

This epic tag team encounter at WrestleMania 40, pitting Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson & Roman Reigns against Cody Rhodes & Seth "Freakin" Rollins, was bound to be a clash of titans.

The Rock has acknowledged Reigns as his Tribal Chief. With the Undisputed WWE Universal Title main event against Rhodes officially set for WrestleMania Sunday, along with Rollins' World Title Match against Drew McIntyre.

In response to an initial challenge by Rhodes for a one-on-one matchup, The Rock issued a counter-proposal for Rhodes and Rollins to battle him and Reigns in a tag team match on WrestleMania Saturday. If Rhodes and Rollins emerge victorious, The Bloodline will be barred from ringside for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship Match. however, the main event title match the following night will become "Bloodline Rules,"

The Rock threatened that if Rhodes and Rollins do not answer the challenge, the story would tragically end, Rhodes and Rollins journeyed to SmackDown to accept the challenge.

• Rey Mysterio & Dragon Lee vs. Santos Escobar & Dominik Mysterio

Rey Mysterio will join forces with Dragon Lee against his son "Dirty" Dominik Mysterio of The Judgment Day and Santos Escobar of Legado del Fantasma.

A new rival emerged when Escobar of The LWO viciously assaulted his mentor and unleashed a brutal surprise attack that injured the WWE Hall of Famer.

The following week, Rey interrupted the gloating pair and challenged them to a tag team match against himself and Dragon Lee, the newest member of The LWO, on The Grandest Stage of Them All. 

• Bianca Belair, Jade Cargill & Naomi vs. Damage CTRL

Newest SmackDown Superstar Jade Cargill will make one of the biggest WrestleMania debuts in history as she teams with Bianca Belair and Naomi to battle Damage CTRL. 

Cargill only just signed her contract on the March 29 episode of SmackDown but has already inserted herself into Damage CTRL’s business, saving Bianca Belair and Naomi from a beatdown.

This is an all-new Damage CTRL, however, after they ousted former leader Bayley and added new members Asuka and Kairi Sane.

Will Cargill shine the brightest when she brings the storm to her WrestleMania debut?

• Seth "Freakin" Rollins vs. Drew McIntyre (World Heavyweight Championship)

Drew McIntyre will finally get his chance to win a world title in front of the masses as he faces World Heavyweight Champion Seth "Freakin" Rollins. 

McIntyre’s mean streak, The Scottish Warrior was unable to defeat Rollins the two times he challenged him at WWE Crown Jewel and WWE Day 1, After defeating Randy Orton, Kevin Owens, Logan Paul, LA Knight, and Bobby Lashley inside the Elimination Chamber, McIntyre can finally claim the World Heavyweight Title when he faces The Architect at WrestleMania.

• Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes (Undisputed WWE Universal Championship)

The Undisputed WWE Universal Championship will be on the line when Roman Reigns defends his title against the winner of the 2024 Royal Rumble, Cody Rhodes.

Roman Reigns defeated The American Nightmare in the main event of WrestleMania 39, and after a painstaking year, he finally gets another chance to finish his story and become the undisputed champion when he challenges Reigns again.

Will Reigns continue his dominant run as champion, or will The American Nightmare finally finish the story?
