Qualcomm first announced its new Windows chipset last year, but no machines have actually gone on sale with Snapdragon X Elite thus far. Now, though, Qualcomm is teasing some sort of announcement on April 24.

In a post on Twitter/X, Qualcomm teases that something about Snapdragon X Elite is being revealed on April 24. There’s not much to indicate what’s being announced, though there are some easy guesses.

Snapdragon X Elite was announced in late 2023 as an ARM-based chip for Windows laptops. Similar to Apple Silicon in MacBooks, the promise was to deliver powerful chips that have better battery life compared to traditional x86 chips. But, since that announcement, not a single laptop has actually been announced using X Elite.

It looks like Qualcomm's has finally set the stage for its upcoming and cutting-edge Snapdragon X CPUs. The Snapdragon X SKUs are primed to revolutionize the PC (more specifically AI PC) market, particularly the AI segment, through their impressive performance and a blazing-fast dedicated AI engine, which helps to catalyze edge AI computing and much more, according to what the company has shown the tech press officially.

For a quick rundown, the Snapdragon X CPU lineup will come in different configurations, starting with the highest-end with a 12-core count and the lower-end "X Plus" models ranging from four cores to ten cores. We haven't received confirmation about official details; hence, we cannot tell you the specifics right now, but in conclusive terms, expect Snapdragon X Elite to be a highly competitive platform in the markets, and despite it being Qualcomm's first attempt in the CPU segment, it is undoubtedly going to be a great hit. Well, now that we know when to expect Qualcomm's CPUs to drop into the markets, there will be exciting times ahead. I am more excited about the AI performance with these SKUs since we are pretty fond of the comparison between respective core performances.

As for products, Lenovo's upcoming Snapdragon Yoga & ThinkPad laptops feature the X Elite CPUs have already leaked out, and it's only a matter of time before others follow. The company is planning its own unveil a few days ahead of the official Snapdragon X Elite announcement while HP is also reportedly going to roll out a new high-end Dragon Series thin & light business laptop with the Snapdragon X CPUs.
