Akshaya Tritiya or Akha Teej is called "Tritiya Tithi of Shukla Paksha" in Vaishakh Month. According to mythological, whatever auspicious work is done on this day, they get eternal results. This is why it's called "Akshay Tritya".

Although Shukla Pakshi Tritiya of all the twelve months is auspicious, but the date of Vaishakh month is considered to be one of the auspicious Muhurtas. This festival holds great importance in Hindu religion. On this day, Goddess Lakshmi is worshiped with rituals. It is believed that worshiping on this auspicious occasion brings special blessings of Goddess Lakshmi and removes financial problems.

Importance of Akshaya Tritiya :

Akshaya Tritiya is celebrated in different places of the country as the birthday of Lord Parashuram, the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. 

it is also said that on this day the river Ganga had descended on the earth King Bhagiratha had brought Ganga to the earth had performed penance for years to incarnate taking bath in the holy Ganga on this day is considered very auspicious.  By taking bath in Ganga on this day, your sins committed knowingly or unknowingly are washed away.

And worshiping Goddess Annapurna on this day is also considered auspicious. If you feed the poor on this day, there is no shortage of food in the house. 

it's also said that on this day Maharishi Vedvyas ji started writing Mahabharata.

According to another story, Lord Kuber was made the God of Wealth on this day.

On the day of Akshaya Tritiya itself Lord Shri Krishna had saved the honor of Draupadi in the gathering of Kauravas.

What to do on Akshaya Tritiya :

According to religious beliefs, the day of Akshaya Tritiya is very auspicious for every work, worshiping Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Vishnu on this day brings prosperity in the house, there is no shortage of money in a person's life, sleeping on this day Buying and investing in silver is considered very good. On this day you can recite the 18th chapter of Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta, You can feed hungry people and the poor and attain virtue by giving them sugarcane juice. You can also establish or inaugurate a new place, institution, society etc.
