In the first day of the Masters Shanghai playoffs, 100 Thieves and Gen.G secured victories, advancing in the upper bracket while FUT Esports and Fnatic dropped to the lower bracket.
100 Thieves , the top seed from the Americas, crushed FUT Esports in their match. The teams played on Icebox and Bind, but the third map, Ascent, wasn't needed.
On Icebox, 100 Thieves quickly took control, winning the first pistol round and maintaining dominance with Cryo impressive Operator plays. They ended the first half with an 11-1 lead and finished the map 13-2.
The second map, Bind, saw 100 Thieves continue their strong performance. They won the first pistol round and used effective strategies to maintain their lead. Cryo had an outstanding game with 24 kills in the first half, leading 100 Thieves to a 13-5 victory. The entire match lasted only an hour and a half.
Gen.G faced off against Fnatic, starting on Lotus. Despite a strong start from Fnatic, Gen.G made a comeback in the second half, winning crucial rounds to tie the score and ultimately losing the map 13-10.
On Bind, Gen.G continued to pressure Fnatic, winning early rounds and taking advantage of Fnatic's mistakes. The teams tied 6-6 at halftime, but Gen.G pulled ahead in the second half, winning the map 13-10 and forcing a third map.
The final map, Breeze, was a back-and-forth battle. Both teams used Yoru in different roles, but Gen.G's strategic plays in the final rounds secured them a 13-11 win and the series victory.
With these wins, 100 Thieves will face Gen.G in the upper bracket semifinals, while Fnatic and FUT Esports will fight to stay in the tournament in the lower bracket.
