Hope you’re all doing well. I have some exciting news for all the Valorant fans out there. You heard it right—Valorant is coming to Xbox and PlayStation 5! Let’s dive into the details.
Since its launch in 2020, Valorant has been exclusively available on PC, leaving many console gamers disappointed despite the game's immense popularity. After more than three years, Riot Games is finally expanding its reach. They have announced that Valorant will soon be available on both Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5.
Earlier today at Summer Game Fest 2024, Executive Producer Andy Ho and Production Director Arnar Gylfason revealed the limited beta for the console version of Valorant, along with details on the release date, UI, and more. Keep reading to learn all about Valorant's upcoming console release.
Valorant Console Beta and Release Date

Valorant on Console: Layout, UI, and More
Much like its PC counterpart, the console version of Valorant will be free to play. The game will retain its core tactical shooter gameplay while offering a unique experience tailored to console players.
In an official statement, Production Director Arnar Gylfason emphasized the importance of adapting VALORANT’s core competitive gameplay to feel intuitive on a controller. He stated, “We were adamant that VALORANT’s core, competitive gameplay must feel natural on a controller; and – if we couldn’t deliver on that gameplay promise – we had to be prepared to walk away from it. We hope we nailed it, but ultimately, our players will have the final say.”
The console version will feature a common control layout with different button configurations. Additionally, VALORANT will offer agent-specific control options, allowing players to customize layouts for different agents. Here’s a brief overview of VALORANT’s controller configuration on both consoles:
In addition to the button configurations, the layouts for the game menu, store, in-game UI, and weapon buy menu have been optimized for consoles. Here’s an initial glimpse of the console UI and menu:

With the console version of Valorant on the horizon, a common question arises: Will Valorant support crossplay? According to Riot Games, the answer is no. Despite the game's consistent feel across platforms, Production Director Arnar Gylfason explained in a Q&A session that there will be a new "focus mode" specifically for console players.
This mode enables players to achieve more accurate hip-fire shots. These subtle adjustments enhance the console experience and may contribute to the decision not to support crossplay.
However, both versions of the game will share the same Riot account, allowing you to retain your skins, charms, progression, and other items across platforms. Additionally, console players will receive updates and releases simultaneously with the PC version, including balance changes, new agents, maps, premium content, and other live service features.
