Introduction

With millions and billions of views that various Content Creators generated throughout the 2020-2022, Minecraft's success was on another level. Many creators saw an insane rise and made a career through Minecraft, it's trend loss can be understood through it's Rise and let's see if it's really dead or it's just another hype shot.

The Rise

Well it is no surprise that there's always been a trend of Minecraft, but things were start to boom when Covid-19 hits in 2020 and the only thing that popped in the gaming section was Minecraft, the game saw a tremendous boom ans was popular like never before. Every influencer used to play it and by watching their idols and through easy gameplay and concepts wider audience started playing Minecraft and try to be just like their favourite creators. Oh! How can we forget SMP by all our favourite creators which almost felt like an Avengers movie and everyone was getting millions of views and popularity with Minecraft, this contributed a huge role in Minecraft's success at that time.

Minecraft itself mentioned that at that time almost 126 million people were playing it monthly, if that's not insane, we can't image what is! 🥶

If that's not enough the game crossed the mark of overall 200 million copies sold at that time 😳.

Well not only players and creators but MOJANG the studio that developed the game plays a vital role in it's success with the regular updates, patches and new updates that always provided something fresh on the table for everyone. The new biomes, mobs and dimensions keeps tge active players always there playing game for one or the other reasons.

Other important thing that leads to the ultimate rise was The MOB vote where Mojang asks players what they want to see next in the game, that makes it insane and gives a feeling of being the owner or developer of the game itself.

There were debates online on which mob to get into the game and the time was super fun.

The Current Scenario(Downfall)

Well, if you consider all the points and hype mentioned above there is no such hype like before, the main reason being leaving the game by Creators, all the big creators are leaving the game which ultimately lead to the loss in audience interest and new gamers also shifted towards other games, leaving Minecraft behind. We can witness the trend records, where it is clearly visible that the game was super popular during lockdown times and now it's popularity is somewhat decreasing.

The update 1.19 was another low for Minecraft where Mojang removed features from the game and even developers explained how they are going to slow down on providing new features as they didn't want to announce something and can't deliver it on time. That statement was right call for the developers but not well received by the audience as the USP which made Minecraft super popular was going way from it. So, there's no to much hype around the new features and stuff which once excited everyone and get everyone talking what's gonna happen in Minecraft.

Competition from other games is yet another factor that throws Minecraft away from Trend like the recently launched Palworld where there is a unique yet similar concept get's players engaged where you can train your pals and get the pal's boss fight which is kinda similar to Minecraft but is repackaged in an awesome way that not only players but big creators are shifted to Palworld. My current gaming field is full of Palworld which once was filled with Minecraft.

Is Minecraft Dead!

So, we finally get to the main event, Is Minecraft dead? Well to answer this in short, No MINECRAFT is NOT DEAD. Like in the recent 30 days the active player base was around 16 crores+ which clearly shows the game is still somewhat trending. Well, one of the reasons being Nostalgia that maybe never allowed the game to die.

Another factor is the moding community that allows the game to always stay relevant no matter what happens, if you finish ender dragon you can have new bosses and pretty much a whole new experience thanks to these mods.

Well may be In India it has taken a break but foreign creators are still very active and SMP's like Himands is still going on which keeps the game in trend.

Figure 14, view larger image

Well indeed the game is not dead definitely, what it needs is an event like 100 days challenge which will revive the hype and the game will once again come back in trend.
