Neeraj Chopra, India’s star javelin thrower, delivered an impressive performance at the Lausanne Diamond League 2024. He threw his season-best of 89.49 meters on his final attempt, securing second place in the competition. This throw surpasses his previous best of 89.45 meters, achieved at the Paris Olympics 2024.

Throughout the event, Neeraj faced tough competition, especially from Grenada’s Anderson Peters, who set a new meet record with a throw of 90.61 meters, taking the top spot. Germany’s Julian Weber finished third with a best throw of 87.08 meters.

Neeraj’s consistency was evident, as he improved with each throw, eventually reaching his season-best. Although he fell just short of the 90-meter mark, his performance was a positive sign, showcasing his growth and determination.

This performance keeps Neeraj in the race for the Diamond League finals, which will be held in Brussels on September 14. With another competition coming up in Zurich on September 5, Neeraj will aim to continue his strong form and secure his place in the finale.

Neeraj Chopra’s season has been a mix of highs and challenges, including a groin injury that affected his performance during the Paris Olympics. Despite this, he has shown resilience and continues to be one of the top competitors in the javelin throw events worldwide.
