Chennai's Streets Light Up: Witness the First-Ever Formula 4 Night Race

Formula 1 races offer an unmatched thrill, showcasing the pinnacle of engineering and speed. For true motorsport fans, witnessing a live race in the glamorous settings of Monaco or Italy is a bucket list experience.

Don't miss the Indian Racing Festival (IRF) 2024 in Chennai, featuring the inaugural F4 India Championship and South Asia's first-ever night race. The Indian Racing League (IRL) breaks new ground as the world's first gender-neutral racing championship.

The Chennai Formula Racing Circuit, a 3.5 km street circuit, was launched in August 2023 but was unable to host races due to flooding. Designed with sharp turns and elevation changes, the circuit runs through key roads around Island Grounds, including Anna Salai, Swami Sivananda Salai, Kamarajar Salai, and Napier Bridge.

The Chennai Formula Racing Circuit is ready for racing. Pit and paddock areas, grandstands, and safety features have been set up within Island Grounds. The track, built to FIA standards, will be used for practice sessions to familiarize drivers with the circuit before the main event.

The Chennai Formula Racing Circuit was constructed by the same team that designed the Hyderabad Street Circuit, ensuring compliance with FIA safety regulations.


The Formula 4 Indian Championship provides a valuable opportunity for aspiring single-seater racing drivers to showcase their skills and earn Super Licence points. The championship attracts talented young drivers from both India and abroad.


The festival features specialized racing cars sourced from Italy and France. The F4 championship uses Mygale F4 Gen 2 cars, which can reach speeds of up to 210 km/h. The IRL uses Wolf Thunder GB08 racing cars, capable of reaching speeds of up to 240 km/h.


Catch the second round of the exciting Formula 4 Indian Championship at the Indian Racing Festival 2024! The festival takes place from August 30th to September 1st at the Chennai Formula Racing Circuit around Island Grounds.


The next round will be held at Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore on September 14th and 15th. Stay tuned for updates on future locations.
