Roblox, the popular online gaming platform, has announced a significant change aimed at supporting game creators. Developers of paid games, also known as “experiences,” will now receive a larger share of the revenue generated by these games. Previously, creators earned 30% of user purchases made using Roblox’s virtual currency. Now, developers will receive between 50% to 70% of revenue from paid games using real money, especially on desktop versions.
The announcement was made during Roblox’s developer conference in San Francisco, where CEO David Baszucki shared the company’s plans to attract older users. Roblox is working to offer more premium, paid experiences that can be played on various devices, including mobile phones and gaming consoles. They aim to expand their audience and improve gaming quality.
Additionally, Roblox launched a new affiliate program, allowing developers to earn 50% of purchases made by new users who join the platform through special links.
With over 79.5 million active daily users, Roblox has set a goal to reach 1 billion users. To achieve this, they are focusing on creating diverse and expansive game experiences, even for players on lower-end devices.
The platform is also introducing new features like “Party Mode,” which will allow groups of users to chat and explore games together. Collaborating with Shopify, Roblox is also enabling developers to sell real-world products inside their games.
These changes reflect Roblox’s commitment to supporting developers while expanding its user base with premium content and new features.
