For context, IPL has previously held two mega auctions in 2014 and 2018, with a four-year gap between each. The last one was in 2022, where teams could retain up to four players. As the current three-year cycle comes to an end, there's speculation about the new retention policy, with some franchises pushing for an increase in the retention cap to up to eight players, while others prefer the current limit of four or five.
